A Bakry–Émery Almost Splitting Result With Applications to the Topology of Black Holes

چکیده

The almost splitting theorem of Cheeger-Colding is established in the setting nonnegative generalized m-Bakry–Émery Ricci curvature, which m positive and associated vector field not necessarily required to be gradient a function. In this context it shown that with diameter upper bound volume lower bound, as well control on Bakry–Émery field, fundamental group such manifolds abelian. Furthermore, extensions well-known results concerning curvature bounds are given for curvature. These include: first Betti number Gromov Gallot, Anderson’s finiteness isomorphism types, comparison, Abresch–Gromoll inequality, Cheng–Yau estimate. Finally, analysis applied stationary vacuum black holes higher dimensions find low temperature horizons must have limited topology, similar restrictions exhibited by (extreme) zero temperature.

Topology Change of Black Holes

The topological structure of the event horizon has been considered in terms of the Morse theory. The elementary process of topology changes can be understood as a handle attachment. It has been found that there are certain constraints on the black hole topology changes: (i) There are n kinds of the handle attachment in the (n+1)-dimensional black hole space-times. (ii) The handle is further cla...

On the topology of stationary black holes

We prove that the domain of outer communication of a stationary, globally hyperbolic spacetime satisfying the null energy condition must be simply connected. Under suitable additional hypotheses, this implies, in particular, that each connected component of a cross-section of the event horizon of a stationary black hole must have spherical topology.

Black Holes Are Almost Optimal Quantum Cloners

We show that black holes clone incoming quantum states with a fidelity that depends on the black hole’s absorption coefficient. Perfectly reflecting black holes are optimal universal quantum cloners of the type described by Simon, Weihs, and Zeilinger [1], and operate on the principle of stimulated emission. In the limit of perfect absorption, the fidelity of clones is equal to what can be obta...

Regular Black Holes and Topology Change

The conditions are clarified under which regular (i.e., singularity-free) black holes can exist. It is shown that in a large class of spacetimes that satisfy the weak energy condition the existence of a regular black hole requires topology change.
